Boko Haram: Nigerian Army rescues, reunites children abducted by insurgents with parents

The Nigerian Amy says it has reunited some children who were kidnapped by Boko Haram two years ago, with their parents.

Texas Chukwu, Director Army Public Relations, in a statement, said troops of 22 Brigade rescued four children – two boys and two girls – at Maima village in Ngala local government area of Borno State during an operation.

The Army spokesman said the children were currently receiving treatment at a health facility of the military.

He said a 36 hand grenade was also recovered during the operation.

“Troops of 22 brigade deployed in operation Lafiya Dole have reunited children abducted two years ago by Boko Haram terrorists with their parents at Ngafure village in Dikwa local government area of Borno state,” the statement read.

The troops rescued the hostages, two boys and two girls during a clearance operation at Maima village in Ngala local government area of the state.

“A 36 hand grenade was also recovered during the operation. The rescued hostages are currently receiving medical attention at the military health facilities,” he added.

The spokesman reaffirmed the commitment of the army to rescuing all those held captive by the Boko Haram.
